Board feet needed

Lumber logistics require specialized handling. Reclaimed beams can weigh hundreds of pounds. Long boards need proper support during transit. Finish-grade hardwoods demand protection from weather and impact damage. Our transportation team understands these requirements because lumber is all we haul.

Operating our own fleet — rather than brokering third-party carriers — means we control every variable: how material is packaged, how it is secured, what equipment meets the truck at delivery, and who is accountable if something goes wrong. We have been delivering lumber across Southern California and the West Coast for over two decades without a single cargo claim exceeding our coverage.

Delivery Options

Flatbed Delivery

Our 48-foot flatbeds handle the heaviest beams and longest boards. Equipped with an integrated pallet jack and coordinated forklift service for jobsite offloading. Ideal for structural timbers, large dimensional orders, and commercial quantities. All loads are tarped and secured with rated tie-down chains.

  • GVW capacity: 48,000 lbs
  • Max board length: 40 feet
  • Forklift offloading available on request
  • Tarped and chain-secured loads

Packaging Methods

How lumber is packaged directly affects how it arrives. Rough structural material and finished hardwood flooring have very different requirements. We select the appropriate packaging method for each order type.

Strapped & Stickered Bundle

Standard dimensional lumber and beams on flatbed

Boards are sorted by dimension, stickered with 1-inch spacers for air circulation, and steel-strapped in bundles of up to 1,000 BF. Bundles are forklift-compatible (4-way entry) and sized for standard pallet racks.

Edge-Wrap with Cardboard Corner Protectors

S4S and finish-grade material

Each bundle receives corrugate edge-wrapping on all four sides plus heavy-duty corner protectors. Protects surfaced faces from strap damage and contact abrasion during transit.

Shrink-Wrapped Pallet

Flooring, paneling, and short stock on box truck or LTL freight

Material is stacked on standard 48"x40" pallets, stretch-wrapped, and banded. Pallet weight capped at 2,500 lbs for standard fork capacity. Moisture-barrier wrap applied for outdoor storage or long-distance freight.

Crated Timber Package

Live-edge slabs and irreplaceable architectural pieces

Heavy timbers and slabs are secured inside custom lumber crates built from scrap material. Foam padding isolates edges. Crates are labeled with handling instructions and center-of-gravity markings.

Loose Stack (Will-Call Pickup)

Customer-arranged pickup at our Commerce facility

Customers loading their own vehicles receive material loose-stacked on the ground or on a pallet for forklift loading. Stickering and strapping are available at customer request for a nominal fee.

Insurance & Liability

Every shipment we handle is covered. Here is what our insurance structure looks like.

Cargo Insurance

All own-fleet deliveries carry $500,000 per-occurrence cargo insurance covering loss, theft, and physical damage during transit. Declared value coverage extensions available for high-value loads on request.

Commercial Auto Liability

$1,000,000 per-occurrence commercial auto liability. Certificates of insurance available for general contractors, lenders, and project owners requiring evidence of coverage.

General Liability

$2,000,000 general liability coverage for loading, offloading, and on-site placement activities. Our crew is covered while working on your property or jobsite.

Workers’ Compensation

All drivers and loading crew are covered by California-compliant workers’ compensation insurance. No subcontractors or day laborers are used for our delivery operations.

Freight Carrier Liability

For third-party freight shipments, standard carrier liability applies (typically $0.10–$0.50/lb). We strongly recommend purchasing declared-value coverage, which we can arrange through our freight partners.

Claims Process

Damage claims must be noted on the delivery receipt at time of delivery and submitted in writing within 5 business days. We target 10-business-day resolution. Photo documentation requested.

Freight Classification Reference

LTL (less-than-truckload) freight is rated by NMFC freight class, which is determined primarily by density (lbs per cubic foot). Knowing your material’s freight class helps you understand carrier quotes and avoid reclassification charges. We handle all NMFC classification for shipments we book.

Material DescriptionTypical NMFC ClassDensity RangeNotes
Standard dimensional lumber, rough-sawn beamsClass 55–6030–50 lbs/cu ftMost common for structural reclaimed material
Hardwood flooring, tongue-and-groove panelingClass 60–7020–35 lbs/cu ftHigher class due to palletized configuration
Live-edge slabs (crated)Class 85–1008–20 lbs/cu ftCrate volume penalizes density calculation
Custom molding and profile stockClass 70–8512–25 lbs/cu ftProfile complexity affects stacking density

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer liftgate delivery for sites without a forklift?

Yes. We can dispatch box trucks with liftgates for smaller orders and residential or tight-access sites.

How far in advance should I schedule delivery?

For LA Metro routes, schedule 2–3 business days ahead. For out-of-area freight, allow 5–10 business days depending on distance.

Can you provide proof of insurance for my jobsite?

Yes. Project-specific certificates of insurance are available upon request before delivery.

Do you palletize or bundle the material?

We bundle or palletize based on product type, weight, and unloading method to keep offloading safe and efficient.

Can you coordinate deliveries with building access windows?

We routinely book narrow delivery windows to align with dock hours, permits, or street closures—share constraints when booking.
